The Magician stands behind a table bearing all four suit symbols — wand, cup, sword, pentacle — the four elements at his command. One hand points to heaven, the other to earth: “As above, so below.” The infinity symbol crowns his head. He has everything he needs; the only question is whether he will use it.

Reversed, the Magician's power turns cunning or sits unused. He may be manipulating others, using his gifts for hollow ends, or — more sadly — refusing to believe in his own ability at all.

Upright

You have all the tools. Stop waiting for permission or perfect conditions. Act with intention and the universe responds in kind.

Reversed

Reconnect with your genuine intention. Drop the performance; use the real skill. If someone around you feels slippery, trust that instinct.

In early Marseille decks he was "Le Bateleur" — the street conjurer, a trickster. Waite elevated him to a figure of genuine will and occult mastery, grounding him in Hermetic philosophy.

Ensure your talents are being applied, not hoarded. The Magician's table is full — idleness is the one thing that makes it meaningless.
