A wealthy merchant holds a scale in one hand while dispensing coins to two kneeling figures with the other. The scale suggests that generosity is being measured — fair, but not unlimited. This card speaks to the balance between giving and receiving and asks which side of that exchange you currently occupy.

Reversed, the generosity has strings attached — or the exchange is fundamentally unfair. Someone gives to control; someone takes without genuine need; or debts accumulate without resolution.

Upright

Give if you have. Receive without shame if you are in need. The exchange of resources is part of what makes communities work.

Reversed

Clarify the terms of any exchange. Generosity that creates dependency or obligation is not true generosity.

Six brings harmony after hardship in pentacles — the generous patron, the fair distribution of what Earth has produced.

True generosity does not create dependency. Check whether the giving is empowering or keeping others small.
