Seven · Minor Arcana — Wands
Seven of Wands
Upright Meaning
A figure stands on high ground, defending against six wands rising from below. He has the advantage of position but faces opposition. This is the stance of someone who has claimed something — success, a viewpoint, a position — and must now hold it against challenge.
Reversed Meaning
Reversed, the figure abandons the high ground — overwhelmed by opposition, exhausted, or plagued by self-doubt. What was worth defending is yielded without cause.
Guidance & Advice
Upright
Hold your position. You've worked for what you have; don't surrender it without cause. Stand firm and defend your ground with confidence.
Reversed
Rest if needed, but don't surrender the hill you've earned. Temporary tactical withdrawal is not defeat.
History & Symbolism
Seven brings a new level — in Wands, the successful figure of six now faces the challenges that success attracts. The position on high ground is earned, not given.
What to Look Out For
Stubbornness and principled defense are not the same thing. Know which one you're engaged in.
