Seven · Minor Arcana — Pentacles
Seven of Pentacles
Upright Meaning
A farmer leans on his hoe, surveying a vine heavy with seven pentacles. He has worked hard; the harvest is promising. He pauses — not from idleness but to assess: is this working? Should I continue? What will the yield actually be? It is the pause of the wise investor.
Reversed Meaning
Reversed, the pause becomes impatience or the investment has genuinely produced poor returns. Effort has been scattered rather than focused; what was planted isn't growing.
Guidance & Advice
Upright
Take stock of what you've invested in. The long-term view is right — results take time. Continue what's working; redirect what isn't.
Reversed
If the effort genuinely isn't working, redirect. If it is working but slowly, recommit. Know which situation you're actually in.
History & Symbolism
Seven in pentacles represents the productive pause — the gardener wise enough to evaluate their own work rather than simply continuing from habit.
What to Look Out For
Assessment is valuable; endless assessment instead of action is procrastination wearing a work apron.
