Knight of Pentacles

StubbornnessBoredomStagnationWorkaholicStuck in routine

A knight sits on a heavy, still horse — the only fully stationary knight in the deck — contemplating a pentacle. Unlike his fiery or airy counterparts, he does not charge. He plans. He is methodical, responsible, and utterly dependable. He will do the work, slowly and completely.

Reversed, the Knight's reliable method becomes rigid routine. He ploughs the same furrow endlessly, unable to adapt, or boredom and laziness replace his famous diligence.

Upright

Be the reliable one. Show up, do the work, follow through completely. In a world of brilliant starters and abandoned projects, the one who finishes is invaluable.

Reversed

Adapt one thing. The Knight's reliability is an asset; his inflexibility is a weakness. Even a small deviation from routine can unlock something new.

The Knight of Pentacles is Earth in fully active expression — but Earth moves slowly and thoroughly. He is the farmer, the builder, the one whose work endures.

Method can become rigidity. The Knight of Pentacles at his worst refuses to adapt even when the situation demands it.
